Construction Manager (Expats)

Requirement:

  • Minimum of 15 years in oil & gas/LNG including 10 years in senior construction management roles. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully leading complex brownfield projects or executing large-scale blanket contracts, demonstrating their ability to manage high-stakes operations efficiently. Experience in Papua New Guinea with ExxonMobil projects is highly advantageous, reflecting familiarity with industry standards and expectations.
  • Oversee the entire construction lifecycle, including planning, execution, and closeout. Lead multidisciplinary construction teams and manage contractors and subcontractors.
  • Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies to maintain a zero-incident work environment. Conduct regular quality and safety inspections and ensure all work conforms to project specifications and drawings.
  • Monitor project costs and progress against the budget and schedule. Develop detailed timelines, allocate resources efficiently, and implement corrective actions for any schedule delays or cost overruns.
  • Supervise all daily on-site construction activities across various disciplines, including civil, mechanical, piping, structural, and electrical and instrumentation (E&I).
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (engineering, procurement, and HSE teams), clients, and external regulatory bodies. Prepare and present detailed progress reports, project documentation, and status updates.
  • Provide on-site technical support to ensure effective and timely execution. Participate in construct-ability reviews, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure contractors comply with all project and contractual obligations. Manage variations, claims, and other contractual issues as they arise. 
  • Possessing exceptional leadership skills to inspire and guide diverse teams, combined with outstanding communication abilities to engage stakeholders at all levels, and a sharp, proactive problem-solving mindset that anticipates challenges and drives innovative solutions.
  • Excellent in English, both spoken and written. A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or other related fields. Certification in Construction Management (e.g., CCM) or equivalent preferred.
